The Kawasaki factory team returned to endurance racing in 1988, and by 1991 they had already won the world championship, a feat they repeated in 1992 and 1993. In 1993 Scott Russell and Aaron Slight won the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hours endurance race, much to the delight of local Kawasaki fans.
