Riding for Jan de Groot’s Kawasaki Racing Team, Mickael Maschio (France) took the 125cc World Motocross Championship on this machine. Everything on the team’s KX125SR factory racer was new: its chassis dimensions, its tapered swingarm, the forward cant of its engine, its new KIPS exhaust device… Competing on the cusp of the change to 4-stroke racing – Kawasaki debuted its 4-stroke KX250F-SR the following year – this model can be said to be one of the last great racers of the 2-stroke era.
