• KZ1000 (1981-)

Changes to AMA Superbike regulations led to development of a replacement for the current racer, the KZ1000Mk II. Featuring a new engine and new frame, the KZ1000(J) debuted in 1981.
Made famous by Eddie Lawson, who took his Muzzy-tuned 4-stroke In-line Four KZ1000 superbike to consecutive AMA Championships in ’81 and ’82, the air-cooled racer’s special features included Kerker megaphone exhaust, CR carbs, an aluminium swingarm and slotted front brake discs.
After Lawson’s successful ’81 U.S. Superbike season, “Eddie Lawson Replica” KZ1000S racers were made available to privateers. The design also made its way to production models and is still popular today.
