About the WaterJet World Grand Prix

The Waterjet World Grand Prix is a personal watercraft (PWC) racing series run by WGP#1. For 2025, a total of three races are planned in Japan, Belgium, and Thailand. The rounds in Japan and Thailand will host rounds of the Waterjet Asian Championships. In addition, the final round in Thailand will also host the Waterjet World Cup at the same time. Top-level riders from around the world will come together aiming to lift the triple crown of the World Grand Prix, World Cup, and Asian Championship titles.
The Waterjet World Grand Prix series is divided into race classes based on PWC model, rider age, and rider gender. Kawasaki competes in three classes.
In the Pro Ski Grand Prix class, which is the premier class for stand-up PWCs (single-rider capacity, generally ridden in a standing position), “Team Kawasaki Jet Ski” is supported by Kawasaki’s American subsidiary Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (AKM). Team rider Jimmy Wilson, who finished 2nd in the Pro Ski Grand Prix class title run last year, will be joined by Japanese promising young rider Mao Sato.
In the Pro-Am Endurance Open, which is an endurance class for runabout PWCs (riding capacity for two or three riders, generally ridden in a sitting position), “Team Pastorello Compétition,” supported by Kawasaki's French subsidiary, competes with rider Jean-Bruno Pastorello, who has won the title six times between 2017 and 2024. Both teams have solid lineups that will be aiming for title wins in the 2024 season.
In the Expert Ski GP stand-up class, Hugo Pastorello is competing with “Team Pastorello Compétition.” Hugo, the son of Jean-Bruno, has been showing rapid progress in the past few years. The father and son duo will both be aiming for title wins in the 2025 season.

In the Waterjet World Grand Prix’s “Pro Ski Grand Prix” premier stand-up class, Team Kawasaki Jet Ski competes with a specially tuned race machine based on the Jet Ski SX-R 160.
The Jet Ski brand has a more than 50-year history that began with the original stand-up Jet Ski and continues to this day in the form of the Jet Ski SX-R 160 production model. With a hull designed for on-water handling performance paired with a high-power engine, the Jet Ski SX-R 160 offers agile handling and an exhilarating ride quality. Riders can use their whole body to control the machine to experience the real thrill that stand-up PWCs offer.
AKM carefully tunes the engine and hull of the Jet Ski SX-R 160 production model, and the result is an even faster and more competitive machine.
For the Expert Ski GP class, Team Pastorello Compétition also fields a Jet Ski SX-R 160, tuned in accordance with class regulations.
